Newsletter, June 2016

08/06/2016

Welcome to our winter newsletter. We recently launched an exciting new service at the AMA National Conference, where we were the platinum sponsor. It represents further innovation and a response to demands for flexibility and tailored solutions. You can now have the Synapse medical billing app independent of the Synapse workforce, representing the biggest shift in our service delivery model since we began. We’ve also moved up the street to a bigger Sydney office, and have been actively participating in the health reform debate at the hashtag #HealthElection16.

Software as a Service

Here at Synapse, we are excited to launch our latest innovation – Software as a Service (SaaS).

SaaS is essentially our Synapps app separated from our workforce.

We understand that many of you already have your own staff and do not need Synapse to do the extra leg work required to manage your medical billing. Using the SaaS model, you get all the functionality of Synapps and its rules engine, but your own staff can continue to manage your billings

Data collection and record keeping are essential in the care of your patients, and SaaS makes it easy for you to capture necessary data from your home visits, ward rounds, consultations etc. by using the camera on your mobile phone or tablet. Take photos of your patients’ stickers or charts which are then immediately available for your staff on our secure website. If you want, we can also convert the data on the images to text.

As always at Synapse, all data is stored securely on our Australian servers and we are fully compliant with all relevant privacy legislation. Remember we are also the only ISO certified company in Australia that does what we do.

We were proud to launch our SaaS model at the AMA National Conference, which you can read about below.

From just $1 a day you can have this innovation, use the only Australian, fully compliant mobile bulk billing function, and benefit from our rules engine which is designed to support your claiming compliance.

To find out more click here or download the app from the app stores. You can now download version 2.1.6 from the App Store for iPhone and iPad users and on Google Play for Android phone and tablet users.

2016 AMA Conference

Last weekend saw the success of the 2016 AMA National Conference which was held in our nation’s capital. The conference in Canberra was attended by a range of delegates, from medical practitioners to health ministers, and Synapse was honoured to be able to support the event as the platinum sponsor.

The conference this year explored a number of important topics, including asylum seekers, bullying in the surgical space and the changing face of Medicare. Minister Sussan Ley (LNP) addressed the conference as did Richard Di Natale (Greens) and Catherine King (Labor). All spoke with passion on the topic of projected changes to Medicare, so it is clear that change is afoot, no matter what the result of the election.

More importantly, the conference allowed Synapse to be at the forefront of what we do. It helped us understand the challenges that you, the medical professional, face on a day-to-day basis when providing care to your patients. As always, we were able to have discussions with our current and future clients around the country. It is this rapport with the medical profession that inspires Synapse to keep innovating – to create services and solutions that will free you from unnecessary paperwork so you can focus on your patients.

At this year’s conference, we were able to showcase our latest SaaS innovation.

The breakfast session on Sunday morning was a success and empowered doctors to pilot the new SaaS service and also test out the mobile bulk bill function. Delegates downloaded and discussed and played and pontificated, it was illuminating for them and Synapse alike. The new service was well received and we were pleased to hear your feedback and your excitement to implement the service into your daily workflow.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to everyone who stopped by our booth for a chat and who entered the MediMind quiz. Congratulations to Laura and Jacqueline who were the winners of the quiz – we hope the iPad will come in useful during your intern year and we wish you all the best for your future endeavors as a medical practitioner.

New office location in Bondi Junction

Synapse Medical Services has seen rapid growth in the last three years and we are always expanding and training our workforce to match the growth in services required in medical administration. As such, we have relocated to a new, bigger, brighter office in Bondi Junction – only a few steps from our original location.

Synapse Sydney office is now located at: Suite 304, 35 Spring Street, Bondi Junction NSW 2022.

We’re probably not going to have a big opening party this time (there have been so many!) but you’re all welcome to drop by anytime.

#HealthElection2016

Medicare is a hot election topic and I have been actively contributing to the health reform debate on Croakey.org. You can read my latest post here, which explains how an end to bulk billing will affect patients, and I would encourage you to follow the hashtag #HealthElection16 and participate in the conversation.

That’s all from us until spring, by which time we may have our 6th Prime Minister in as many years…

All the best,
Margaret and the Synapse team.
