Margaret’s book

Firstly, I’m excited to share that I’ve written a book exclusively for consumers, that is expected to be available towards the end of 2025. It’s called Just Bulk Bill It! and I’ve dedicated it to all Australians who refuse to remain confused. It’s designed to end misinformation and disinformation that is constantly fed to consumers about #Medicare, #medicalbills and #privatehealthinsurance. They deserve truth, facts and clarity but boy, simplifying something as complex as Medicare and private insurance isn’t easy. This may be my biggest challenge yet!

While it’s being published, I will be sharing excerpts on LinkedIn and other socials. I welcome your engagement and will be sure to keep you updated. It will be a great resource for your patients.

After listening to feedback in the market we have recently improved our coding offering for day procedures and rehabilitation facilities.

42nd Australian Private Hospitals Association Conference, Darwin

A few weeks ago our COO Guru Krishnamurthy and CEO were delighted to attend the Australian Private Hospitals Association 42nd National Congress in Darwin.

We met with colleagues, clients and long-term friends to tackle the challenges shaping the future of healthcare in Australia.

Synapse Medical Services works for each of the three Ps in the health sector – Patients Payers and Providers. So, we are always keen to hear every perspective about the many challenges being experienced right across the sector. This conference was obviously focused on the perspective of private hospitals, and it was pleasing to hear some big picture thinkers sharing their views about the need for private hospitals and private insurers to work together more collaboratively.

Data sharing and digital health were also a recurring theme, as they should be.

MBS Answers

A new look, new website and additional features!

A big thank you to all who have joined the growing MBS Answers community. We all know there is a huge hole in medical billing knowledge across Australia.

That is why MBS Answers is such a powerful tool and the volume of people engaging and subscribing is a testament to the fact that people want to learn how to bill correctly.

We have an Easter special available until end of April so get in quick – it’s just $4 a week!

There are now over one hundred answers on the platform, and that will continue to grow by two per week, with the monthly Payment Integrity Mailer also now being delivered to keep you abreast of Professional Services Review cases, and payment integrity issues beyond our shores.

The only legally accurate Medicare billing course in Australia

One additional resource that we cannot recommend enough is the Medicare billing course available at the Leo Cussen Centre for Law. It is the best $495 you will ever spend.

The course was developed in conjunction with Margaret but neither she nor Synapse nor any of our companies has any financial interest in this course whatsoever. Margaret gifted her decades of knowledge to Leo Cussen and is also committed to keeping the course updated for free, forever.

This is a foundation course for everyone with Medicare billing rights, including allied health practitioners.

Everyone who has done it has loved it (Leo has made it really engaging with videos and quizzes etc) and come away gobsmacked after unlearning just about everything they thought was true about how to bill correctly to Medicare. With government compliance activities on the rise, now is a good time to get educated – correctly.

India Visit

In March, we held our annual townhall event with our wonderful Chennai team.
This day allows us each year to connect, reward high performance and most importantly, have some fun!

It felt fantastic to be back at our India hub as we look to plan the rest of 2025 and deliver our business goals.
