AIMAC and Leo Cussen Centre for Law announce education partnership

The Australian Institute of Medical Administration & Compliance and the Leo Cussen Centre for Law announce education partnership.

The Australian Institute of Medical Administration and Compliance (AIMAC) and the Leo Cussen Centre for Law, have announced they will be joining forces to develop the most comprehensive, Medicare and medical billing law courses in Australia.

Leo Cussen has been trusted to provide excellence in legal education to lawyers and other professionals for 50 years. AIMAC is the educational arm of leading medical billing service provider, Synapse Medical, whose founder and CEO is a lawyer who completed her doctorate on Medicare claiming and compliance.

AIMAC’s mission is to improve health system literacy and raise the quality of health reform discourse and debate globally. In Australia, a key priority area is to provide the highest quality, legally accurate education and training on the operation of Australia’s universal health coverage system, Medicare.

AIMAC founder, Margaret Faux, stated “AIMAC’s courses are created by world leading health system experts and lawyers, who are committed to sharing their vast experience and extensive knowledge in the furtherance of their shared aim to see access to universal health coverage become a global reality. In Australia, our doctors are required to engage with complex Medicare and medical billing law in their daily work and research has shown they receive no formal training in this important and very complex area. We are delighted to be partnering with Leo Cussen to create courses that will combine our technical expertise, with their educational and creative course content expertise. They are the leaders in the field of high quality, engaging, legal education, so we are very excited to be working together.”

Executive Director of Leo Cussen, Shirley Southgate added “Leo has been expanding our offerings in recent years to include education for non-lawyers who are required to engage with complex law. So, the partnership with AIMAC is a natural fit. There is clearly a need for legally accurate, high quality, engaging courses on correct use of the Medicare system, and together with AIMAC, we can make that available not only to doctors, but also to lawyers who may be required to advise and represent doctors in Medicare compliance disputes.”
Both organisations are planning to release content over the coming months and will be starting with a joint webinar in November.
