In the February 15, 2022 issue of The Medical Republic’s Money & Medicine newsletter, Dr Margaret Faux discusses the common misconception that Medicare bulk-billing for public hospital outpatient services leads to double dipping. Margaret discovers however, on close inspection of the facts and law, there does not appear to be any duplication in payment at the relevant point in time, or if there is, it is unlikely to involve the Medicare billing.
