Press Release: Australian Corporate Integrations – Synapse Medical, MasterCare, Matilda Nepean and Arcadia Pittwater

13/09/2024

Exciting news in the Australian digital health space with Synapse Medical and Matilda Nepean private hospital announcing an Australian partnership to manage the digital revenue cycle of the leading Sydney hospital.

This integration means we are stronger together in digital health – Matilda Nepean and Arcadia Pittwater Hospitals now have a leading Electronic Medical Record and Patient Administration System implemented by Global Health Limited (ASX : GLH), which is integrated with Synapse Medical’s hospital billing platform to streamline administrative efficiency.

Opening it’s doors to patients in February 2023, Matilda Nepean Hospital continues to move towards a fully digitised operating environment. The success of this integration at the Matilda Nepean site has now been replicated at the Arcadia Pittwater site.

This is an exciting venture bringing together innovative Australian companies to deliver real value to private hospital operators.
Synapse is delighted to announce this successful end-to-end solution which mitigates the usual headaches around coding and billing. Synapse CEO, Dr Margaret Faux, said that the integration made perfect sense and sends a powerful message from Australian-founded companies in a space typically dominated by large scale legacy US providers. By embedding the unique Synapse medical billing system into Matilda Nepean and Arcadia Pittwater Hospitals’ workflow, administrative teams can leverage a seamless journey from patient appointment through to receipted payments with reduced human touch-points along the way.

Dr Faux said “Automation of outdated manual processes like billing and coding are important to all private facilities. Rejected claims are everyone’s pain point, and our system solves that with software and service. By combining with Global Health and MasterCare+ the hospital has a streamlined workflow, an elegant interface and a very intuitive user experience.”

Hospital COO, Kate Silver said “By combining MasterCare+ and MasterCare PAS for the new hospital site, we were seeking a digital option for coding and billing to complement it. The solution with Synapse means that our patient data and payment processes work together and make sure that all departments are aligned, with payments arriving correctly and promptly.”

This integration represents a very positive start to the relationship and heralds planned expansions including seamless integration using FHIR standard and adding Synapse’s Aircoder software to automate the clinical coding function.

Since moving to live functions of Synapse Medical’s solutions in September 2023, the hospital group have billed large amounts, the overall rejection rate is 0.43% (September 2024) which is a first-class digital service offering and well above industry standard.
